Jennifer Keesmaat, Toronto Chief Planner, spoke candidly at the 2016 Toronto Region Vision Summit about expectations when it comes to city building. City building takes time. There is a long process, especially if decisions are made democratically. There needs to be scrutiny and criticism, public hearings, and consultations.
Does this impede the process? Sometimes, but Keesmaat firmly believes the democratic process is necessary.
