The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is now on Instagram! They launched the social media account on Easter Monday, posting their first video as an introduction. The video shows a subway train racing down the tracks, stopping to pick up passengers at various stations.
You can see the video below.
This is an incredibly smart move by the TTC — so smart, it’s weird to think there wasn’t an Instagram account to begin with. So many people in Toronto take photos of streetcars and subways. They are iconic parts of Toronto. Why shouldn’t the TTC capitalize on this trend and create an account of their own to highlight the amazing work they do. The potential is limitless! They can use it to promote their new stations, showcase the new hybrid streetcars, and profile wonderful employees.
According to the first post, the account will be used to share other people’s transit photos, show behind the scenes exclusives, and hold contests!
This month, post a photo with #ConnectTOMotion and the photo that captures the TTC in motion best based on the number of likes will be featured for a week on our platform and station information screens!”
As of Monday 2 p.m., the account has nearly 200 followers. Not bad for a day’s work! Follow them here!
