The Transit Alliance hosted a Green Cities breakfast last month and over 300 business and community leaders attended. The topics of discussion included transit and building — how can the Golden Horseshoe region create sustainable and green cities? The panels were star-studded with decision-makers, each one bringing a particular expertise to their respective panel.
Bruce McGuaig, CEO of Metrolinx; Dr. Dianne Saxe, Ontario Environment Commissioner; David Paterson, VP Corporate and Environmental Affairs for GM Canada; and, Mary Margaret McMahon, Toronto City Councillor were on the transit panel — while Mike Schreiner, Leader of the Ontario Green Party; Amy Erixon, Principal and Managing Director Investments at Avison Young; Christopher Wein, President of Great Gulf; and, Andrew Bowerbank, Global Director, Sustainable Building Services at EllisDon were on the building panel.
But, the audience was just as active. Those 300 participants brought their own ideas to the table and asked some good questions of our panelists. At the end of the event, many of them shared their thoughts with the Transit Alliance in hopes of contributing to the sustainable growth of the GTHA.
