
The Transit Alliance held it’s first Green Cities breakfast to discuss the state of the Greater Toronto Area in terms of sustainability and to explore ways in which citizens, decision-makers, and businesses can grow green. Over 300 people attended the seminar.
David Paterson, VP Corporate and Environmental Affairs for GM Canada, was on the first panel, which focused on transit. His expertise brought a unique perspective to the panel. While politicians and decision-makers were focusing on public transportation, Paterson spoke about the need to build not only transit, but also begin to prepare for electric and automated vehicles. These cars have many environmental benefits and building to accommodate them is just as important as building for public transportation users.

The second panel focused on building green infrastructure. Amy Erixon, Principal and Managing Director Investments at Avison Young, provided a strong voice on the panel, and focused on the necessity of building neighbourhoods where residents can live, work, and play.
